Fairyloot is a Young Adult book subscription box focusing on fantasy based out of the UK. Each month you receive a new Young Adult hardback book and 5-6 bookish goodies. Like most book boxes the hardback are special editions and the items are a combination of both practical things and more decorative items. June’s theme is Animal Companions.

The bookish items included this month are a House of Earth and Blood flower pot, a Priory of the Orange Tree metal bookmark, a set of pillow covers with quotes for the Raven Cycle, an enamel pin showcasing Jiji from Kiki’s Delivery Service, and an acrylic stand character art from Kingdom of the Wicket.

All Fairyloot books come with exclusive covers, signed by the author and include a letter from the author. This month the book also has sprayed yellow edges, artwork on the reverse of the dust jacket, and foiling on the hardback. This months book is Fire with Fire by Destiny Soria. A contemporary fantasy where two sister are born to be dragon slayers that is until one meets a dragon and become soul bonded to him. However, they end up on opposite sides of a coming war and will do anything to protect each other.

May 2021 Fairyloot

Like most book boxes the hardback are special editions and the items are a combination of both practical things and more decorative items. May’s theme is Spellcraft.

The bookish items included this month are a Throne of Glass inspired tumbler, a wooden phone stand, Serpent and Dove foiled coasters, a Crave art print, the monthly tarot cards, and the TBR Game. The TBR Game came with a pad of number paper and a 20 sided die, you write down books that you are interested in and then roll the die to determine which one you will read.

All Fairyloot books come with exclusive covers and are signed by the author. This time the book also has stenciled edges, artwork on the revers of the dust jacket, and foiling on the hardback. This months book is Witches Steeped in Gold by Ciannon Smart. This is a Jamaican inspired fantasy where two enemy witches must join each other to take out a common enemy.

April 2021 Fairyloot

Like most book boxes the hardback are special editions and the items are a combination of both practical things and more decorative items. April’s theme is Hidden Identities.

The bookish items included this month are a set of metal bookends inspired by Lord of the Rings, handmade soap, a tote bag inspired by Blood and Ash, enamel pins from the Daevabad Trilogy, and a set of bookmarks inspired by multiple series. The monthly tarot cards are inspired by Serpent and Dove. They also included the foil art print that was missing in the March box.

This months book is The Prison Healer by Lynette Noni and also came with sprayed and stenciled edges, artwork on the reverse of the dust jacket, and foiling on the hardcover. In The Prison Healer we follow Kiva who has been the healer at a death prison with the only goal of staying alive. When the Rebel Queen arrives Kiva agrees to take her place in the Trial of Ordeal in hopes of saving both of their lives though no one as ever survived the challenge.

The bookish items included this month are a mug inspired by The Winternight Trilogy, a Winterwood inspired phone ring holder, a pair of socks, a foiled notebook, a headband inspired by the Something Dark and Holy series, and the monthly tarot cards. There was also supposed to be a foiled art pint inspired by Spinning Silver but it was delayed getting to Fairyloot’s shipping partner and is going to be included in the April box.

The box also includes an author letter for each book and this editions also has shimmery sprayed edges, foil embossing of the hardcover, and artwork on the reverse of the dust jacket. This months book is The Bright and The Pale by Jessica Rubinkowski. Inspired by Russian folklore we follow Valeria, a young woman who is one of the only survivors of the magical freeze that was placed on her village. After finding out that her best friend who she thought was dead turns out to be alive but trapped, Valeria will lead a group of cutthroats and thieves to go back to the mountain her village is frozen on to help save her friend.

The bookish items included this month are a Hobbit inspired beanie, a secret books to put things in, a Throne of Glass inspired letter opener shaped like a sword, a 2021 calendar with art from different fandoms, a Children of Blood and Bone notepad, and the art print is inspired by The Raven Cycle. The tarot card incuded in this are are have character art from House of Earth and Blood.

All Fairyloot books are signed by the author and have different details each month. The box also includes an author letter. This month’s book is Master of One by Jaida Jones and Dani Bennett which follows a thief that gets swept up in the dark plans of the court sorcerer and together with a ragtag group must stop his sinister plans. This edition also comes with red shimmery sprayed edges, foiling on the hardback, and artwork on the reverse of the dust jacket.

The bookish items included this month are a Cruel Prince tote bag, a literary scrunchie, a bag hanger, A Song of Wraiths and Ruin inspired scarf, a set of foiled bookmarks and a phone screen cleaner. Also are the tarot cards that come every month and the missing ones from September.

This months book is These Violent Delights by Chole Gong which also has exclusive art under the dust jacket and pink sprayed edges. These Violent Delights is a Romeo and Juliet retelling set in 1920s Shanghai focusing on rival gangs and a hidden monster.

Fairyloot: Blood and Honey Collector’s Edition Box

When I heard that Fairyloot was doing a special edition box for Blood and Honey I knew I wanted to try out their special edition boxes.

The items included in this box where a blanket, candle, an enamel pin set, a storage tin, a deck of tarot cards, and an art print. Obviously a special signed edition of Blood and Honey by Shelby Mahurin was also included. This copy of the book came with shimmery sprayed edges and art work under the dust jacket. There was also a bonus chapter that is exclusive to the Fairyloot edition. I was also lucky enough to get the Serpant and Dove add on which also came with sprayed edges and a signed book plate.

This was my first special editon box for Fairyloot and its very well done. I love most of the items and I can tell that a lot of thought was put into each item.

October 2020 Fairyloot

The bookish items included this month are Kingdom of the Wicked salt and pepper shakers, foiled playing cards with character art from multiple fandoms, an enamel pin inspired by The Young Elites, a puzzle featuring the character Jacks from Carval, Castlevania socks, a Kylo Ren sticker sheet, and tarot cards with characters from the book House of Earth and Blood. These are the type of items that I like the most both useful items that can be used again and again and some more decorative items/fandom items.
