February 2021 Fairyloot

Fairyloot is a Young Adult book subscription box focusing on fantasy based out of the UK. Each month you receive a new Young Adult hardback book and 5-6 bookish goodies. Like most book boxes the hardback are special editions and the items are a combination of both practical things and more decorative items. February’s theme is What the Future Holds.

The bookish items included this month are a Lunar Chronicles inspired candle, a set of moon shaped fairy lights, an enamel pin, a Red Rising inspired pillow case, a cutlery set, and the monthly tarot cards.

All Fairyloot books come with exclusive covers and are signed by the author. The book also has sprayed edges, a roil design on the hardcover, art work on the reverse of the dust jacket and an author letter. This months book is This Golden Flame by Emily Victoria. A fantasy adventure where Karis is searching for her brother and ends up waking up a hidden automaton, Alix. Karis and Alix must find her brother and may find out the secret that the country is trying to hide.

March’s theme is Frozen Fables.

January 2021 Fairyloot

Fairyloot is a Young Adult book subscription box focusing on fantasy based out of the UK. Each month you receive a new Young Adult hardback book and 5-6 bookish goodies. Like most book boxes the hardback are special editions and the items are a combination of both practical things and more decorative items. January’s theme is Greek Mythology.

The bookish items included this month are a trinket dish, a book sleeve inspired by Circe, an enamel bookmark, a wooden spatula with a quote on it, an iron on print, and the monthly art print. Each box also come with two tarot cards with character art on them.

All Fairyloot books come with exclusive covers and are signed by the author. The box also includes an author letter for each book. This months book is Lore by Alexandra Braken which also has sprayed and stenciled edges, art work on the revers of the dust jacket, and foiling on the front and back of the hardback. Lore is a young adult fantasy novel inspired by Greek Mythology where every seven years different Greek gods are forced to walk the earth and are hunted down. Those who kill the gods gain their power and now Lore who fled this brutal hunt must stop the rise of a new god.

December 2020 Fairyloot

Fairyloot is a Young Adult book subscription box focusing on fantasy based out of the UK. Each month you receive a new Young Adult hardback book and 5-6 bookish goodies. Like most book boxes the hardback are special editions and the items are a combination of both practical things and more decorative items. December’s theme is Thick as Thieves.

The bookish items included this month are a Hobbit inspired beanie, a secret books to put things in, a Throne of Glass inspired letter opener shaped like a sword, a 2021 calendar with art from different fandoms, a Children of Blood and Bone notepad, and the art print is inspired by The Raven Cycle. The tarot card incuded in this are are have character art from House of Earth and Blood.

All Fairyloot books are signed by the author and have different details each month. The box also includes an author letter. This month’s book is Master of One by Jaida Jones and Dani Bennett which follows a thief that gets swept up in the dark plans of the court sorcerer and together with a ragtag group must stop his sinister plans. This edition also comes with red shimmery sprayed edges, foiling on the hardback, and artwork on the reverse of the dust jacket.

November 2020 Fairyloot

Like most book boxes the hardback are special editions and the items are a combination of both practical things and more decorative items. November’s theme is Enemies to Lovers.

The bookish items included this month are a Cruel Prince tote bag, a literary scrunchie, a bag hanger, A Song of Wraiths and Ruin inspired scarf, a set of foiled bookmarks and a phone screen cleaner. Also are the tarot cards that come every month and the missing ones from September.

This months book is These Violent Delights by Chole Gong which also has exclusive art under the dust jacket and pink sprayed edges. These Violent Delights is a Romeo and Juliet retelling set in 1920s Shanghai focusing on rival gangs and a hidden monster.

December’s theme is Thick as Thieves.

Fairyloot: Blood and Honey Collector’s Edition Box

When I heard that Fairyloot was doing a special edition box for Blood and Honey I knew I wanted to try out their special edition boxes.

The items included in this box where a blanket, candle, an enamel pin set, a storage tin, a deck of tarot cards, and an art print. Obviously a special signed edition of Blood and Honey by Shelby Mahurin was also included. This copy of the book came with shimmery sprayed edges and art work under the dust jacket. There was also a bonus chapter that is exclusive to the Fairyloot edition. I was also lucky enough to get the Serpant and Dove add on which also came with sprayed edges and a signed book plate.

This was my first special editon box for Fairyloot and its very well done. I love most of the items and I can tell that a lot of thought was put into each item.

The bookish items included this month are Kingdom of the Wicked salt and pepper shakers, foiled playing cards with character art from multiple fandoms, an enamel pin inspired by The Young Elites, a puzzle featuring the character Jacks from Carval, Castlevania socks, a Kylo Ren sticker sheet, and tarot cards with characters from the book House of Earth and Blood. These are the type of items that I like the most both useful items that can be used again and again and some more decorative items/fandom items.

This book also has stenciled and sprayed edges, reversible art work on the dust jacket, and a foil design on the hard cover. The story follows twin sisters, Vittoria and Emilia, witches who live in secret. But when Vittoria is murdered Emilia vows to find her sisters killer and get vengeance.

November’s theme is Enemies to Lovers.

September 2020 Fairyloot

The bookish items included this month are a To Kill a Kingdom mug, an unfortunate souls keychain, a pencil case with a quote from the book Sea Witch, a hair detangling brush, a set of metal straws and a postcard.

This months book is Fable by Adrienne Young and it also has sparkly light blue sprayed edges. Fable is about a young woman who was left on a island of thieves by her father. She enlists the help of the young trader West to get her off the island and find her father but the must work together if they are going to survive.

August 2020 Fairyloot

Like most book boxes the hardback are special editions and the items are a combination of both practical things and more decorative items. August’s theme is Let the Games Begin.

The bookish items included this month are a Nevernight bookmark, a golden egg bath bomb, an Aurora Rising pin, a notebook inspired by Stalking Jack the Ripper, a Scythe magnet, and An Ember In the Ashes book sleeve. Each month also includes two tarot card this month featuring Mia and Mr. Kindly from Nevernight.

This months book is Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar which also came with gold sprayed edges. The story is a contemporary fantasy inspired by Hindu mythology where a young woman is forced to be her celestial families human champion while also trying to save her father.

July 2020 Fairyloot

IMG_0512For July I decided to try out a book box that I had hear about but had never received before. Fairyloot is a Young Adult book subscription box focusing on fantasy based out of the UK. Each month you receive a new Young Adult hardback book and 5-6 bookish goodies. Like most book boxes the hardback are special editions and the items are a combination of both practical things and more decorative items. July’s theme is Resilient Royals.IMG_0496

The bookish items included this month are a food/cake tray inspired by the Lunar Chronicles, a card holder, a set of magnetic bookmarks from the book Woven in Moonlight, and a candle inspired by Ash Princess. The candle smells like black currant with a hint of tea. The last two items are a Crescent City cushion cover and an art print with characters from The Bear and the Nightingale.

I liked this box from Fairyloot but I didn’t love it. I do plan to order a few more boxes before deciding if this is a good book box for me or not.
