Some of these items are very practical and some are better suited as decor or for a pin/builtin board. June’s theme is Date with Destiny.IMG_0484

Each box includes different bookish goodies that fit the theme of the month and are connected to other books. This months items include the next Harry Potter inspired mug from Cara Kozik, an apron inspired by the Raven Cycle, Sour Cherry Scones tea from Riddle’s Tea Shoppe, a paper clip set, and a Star Wars inspired wooden bookmark.

Every month Owl Crate has a new young adult hardback book that has an exclusive cover, is signed and comes with a letter from the author. The enamel pin that is in every box is also inspired by that months book. This months book is Goddess in the Machine by Lora Beth Johnson. This scifi adventure follows Andra who wakes up in the year 3102 after sleeping for a thousand years. She was only supposed to sleep for a hundred years but now that she is awake the society that she finds herself in calls her a Goddess but she will play along to find a way back to Earth. FaeCrate Iron Fae 10th Anniversay Hangover Kit

IMG_0468When Fae Crate announced that they where doing a 10th Anniversay Hangover Kit for The Iron King by Julie Kagawa I order it because I had wanted to get into the series and I enjoy the excitement around book boxes.IMG_0453

This kit included a bath bomb, an envelope clutch, character cards, an arrow necklace, a key chain, and an enamel pin. The lager items were the Ash plushie, the Iron Fae book tin, and the blanket. I liked everything but I’ve never been a huge fan of the plushies so I might sell that in the future.

This Hangover kit also included the 10th Anniversary paperback edition of The Iron King which came with a signed book plate and a annotated chapter by Julie Kagawa.

These hangover kits are fun to get but designed with fans of the series in mind. Though they would also be good for those just getting into the series.

June 2020 Owl Crate

Owl Crate is a young adult book subscription box where every month you receive one new hardcover book and an assortment of bookish goodies connected to the monthly theme. Some of these items are very practical and some are better suited as decor or for a pin/builtin board. June’s theme is All the World’s a Stage.IMG_0439

Each box includes different bookish goodies that fit the theme of the month and are connected to other books. This months items include a Night Circus inspired coin bank/pencil holder, a shower steamer, mini-donuts flavored Cirque Du Freak inspired coffee from Bones Coffee company, a Greatest Showman inspired habit tracker, and a set of pencils with quotes from Shakespeare. I love most of these fandom but the one I’m most excited to see is Cirque Du Freak. Cirque Du Freak by Darren Shan is one of my favorite childhood series but no one ever does anything for it.

Every month Owl Crate has a new young adult hardback book that has an exclusive cover, is signed and comes with a letter from the author. The enamel pin that is in every box is also inspired by that months book. This months book is Where Dreams Descend by Janella Angeles. Which this book publication was delayed but Owlcrate was allowed to include their special cover less embossed hardback during the original publication month.  Where Dreams Descend is a re-imagining of Phantom of the Opera and Moulin Rouge where a group of magicians face off in magical feats to determine the next head liner of the Conquering Circus.IMG_0444

July’s theme is Date with Destiny.

Fae Crate Nameless Hangover Kit

IMG_0373For different books FaeCrate do Hangover Recovery kits for the book hangover you will have after finishing the book. They did a Mini Kit for the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Mass.

IMG_0375This kit did not come with a book just bookish items so it is perfect for those who love the series and want merch connected to the books and series as a whole. The bookish items included were a Aelin plushie (which FaeCrate include a plushie with every hangover kit), an Amulet of Orynthin Necklace which is long enough for an adult, and a Wyvern enamel pin. I chose to buy the up graded kit which included a set of Dust Jackets for the US Hardback editions of the Throne of Glass books.

I liked this box but I think that some of their other Hangover kits have been much better. Originally, I didn’t love the Dust Jackets but they’ve grown on me and I love the spines. I bought the hangover kit for the dust jackets so the other items didn’t matter to me. I do think that I will sell the plushie in the future.

Beacon Bookstagram Box 2020

When I started this blog I also created a Instagram account to post bookstagram photos. As I’m still learning the best ways to post and interact on Instagram the Beacon Bookstagram Box sounded like an interesting tool that I might get something out of.

This is not a traditional book box as there is no book or fandom related items. It is instead a box of props and information for those wanting to start a bookstgram account or those who have one and want more information.

IMG_0340Beacon joined up with popular bookstagram accounts to give the best advice and some great props that can be used to better pictures. The items included were a notebook with tips and advice, a 26 week planner, a fabric back drop, a letter board, a fake dagger, a crown, a mask, a pocket watch, fairy lights, flower petals, keys, acorns, and pine cones.

Most of these items where not props I already had so buying this box worked out for me. Now I have new props to use in different ways and some tips that I never considered before. Every box was slightly different so that now everyone got exectly the same items therefore pictures will be different. The only item that I didn’t like was the fake dagger it looks and feels very cheep.

If there is another bookstgram box in the future I might consider getting it.

April 2020 OwlCrate

Some of these items are very practical and some are better suited as decor or for a pin/builtin board. April’s theme is Full Moon Magic.IMG_0354

Each box includes different bookish goodies that fit the theme of the month and are connected to other books. The items included were a canvas pouch with a bamboo moon phase banner in it, a Shatter Me inspired tote bag, a notebook with a quote from Oscar Wilde, a crescent moon bracelet, and a 300 piece puzzle with Remus Lupin from Harry Potter on it.

Every month Owl Crate has a new young adult hardback book that has an exclusive cover, is signed and comes with a letter from the author. The enamel pin that is in every box is also inspired by that months book. This months book is Bone Crier’s Moon by Kathryn Purdie. This time the book also comes with sprayed edges. The story follows Ailesse who has been training to become a Bone Crier, who are the only ones who can stop the dead from attacking the living, but she must kill the boy she is destined to love. Bastien has been seeking revenge for the death of his father but now his fate is intertwined with Ailesse.IMG_0358

May’s theme is Rebels with A Cause.

March 2020 Fae Crate

I like to try out different book boxes both from companies that I’ve bought from before and new companies every so often to see how book boxes are changing. Fae Crate is a primarily young adult fantasy subscription box with several box options each month. Sadly, most of the monthly boxes have been let down for me but this years March box which is also their anniversary box is much better. There is still a few items that I won’t get much use out of but it think the company is slowly getting higher quality items.IMG_0329

Much like other boxes they include one new hard back book and bookish items. The bookish items included were a necklace inspired by The Maiden Ship which is this months book, an ACOTAR enamel pin, a skyward patch tote bag to put iron on patches on. They also included a Crown of Feathers patch to use on the bag, a Spin the Dawn blanket, and their monthly art and Polaroids. I like most of the items but I’m not a iron on patch person so I probably won’t use the patch on the bag.

Also Fae Crate always includes a e book code which can make the cost better if one isn’t a fan of most of the items. This months e book is  Iridescent Fury by Zachary James. This months book is The Maiden Ship by Micheline Ryckman and it comes with a signed book plate. For this edition of the book the hard back is embossed and comes with a reversible dust jacket with exclusive art. The story follows Dain Alloway who has been sailing on the ship The Maiden for most of his life but this all changes when he wakes one night to find a mysterious woman in his cabin.

February 2020 BaeCrate

IMG_0311Bae Crate is a adult romance book box that includes at least one romance book with an author letter and signed book plate as well as four to six items that go with the monthly theme.IMG_0314

February’s box theme was Bite Me and focused on vampires. Due to the corona virus situation this box was delayed and the travel jewelry box had to be switched to a duffel bag inspired by Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The other items included a red lipstick, a glitter face mask, a Bite Me cuff bracelet, and a pink scarf.

Sadly, I didn’t like many of these items. Everything except the duffel bag felt cheep and are not things that I think I would use. The cuff bracelet does not fit and feels like it was meant for a teenager, I don’t know the brand of lipstick and would not use it with out knowing more, and glitter has no place in skin care in my opinion.

IMG_0317The books included where Wicked Bite and Shades of Wicked by Jeaniene Frost which are the first two books in the Night Rebel series. Since I love vampire paranormal romance books and this is a series that I have never heard about I look forward to reading them but I wish the box as a whole was much better.

March 2020 OwlCrate

IMG_0292Owl Crate is a young adult book subscription box where every month you receive one new hardcover book and an assortment of bookish goodies connected to the monthly theme. Some of these items are very practical and some are better suited as decor or for a pin/builtin board. March’s theme is Music of the Night.IMG_0296

Each box includes different bookish goodies that fit the theme of the month and are connected to other books. March is the five year anniversary of OwlCrate so there are some extra goodies this time. This months bookish items include OwlCrate socks, a Phantom of the Opera poster, an OwlCrate wireless speaker, and a Monsters of Verity wooden art print. Some other items where a set of bookplate stickers, a Wintersong inspired candle which smells like winter berries, and a Twilight inspired lip scrub. I love when there is more practical items in boxes as I get more use out of them in comparison to decorative items. Though I wish the Phantom items was more than just a poster and I will not be using the book plates in books but as planner stickers.

Every month Owl Crate has a new young adult hardback book that has an exclusive cover, is signed and comes with a letter from the author. The enamel pin that is in every box is also inspired by that months book. This months book is The Kingdom of Back by Marie Lu which also comes with exclusive sprayed edges. The book is a historical fantasy following Nannerl Mozart, the sister of the famous Wolfgang Mozart, and her quest to make sure history doesn’t forget her.IMG_0298

April’s theme is Full Moon Magic.
