FaeCrate: Blessed Monsters Mini Hangover Recovery Kit

FaeCrate is a young adult book subscription box that also does special edition boxes that they call Hangover Recovery kits. These are suppose to help you get over the book hangover after you have finished the book the box is focused on. A Mini Kit is a little bit smaller and has fewer items but is still a good box. I’ve been slowly reading the Something Dark and Holy series and wanted to see what FaeCrate would do for the series. I got the box a while a go but the dust jacket set was delayed and I didn’t want to post this until I had those as that is the main reason I bought this box.

The book is Blessed Monsters by Emily A. Duncan the third and final book in the Something Dark and Holy series. This copy came with a signed book plate and a letter from the author but is otherwise a standard copy which I will not be keeping as I also have the Owlcrate edition.

The items and the dust jacket set were the reasons I bought this box as I wanted to see what it included. The items are a metal spell book tin, an iron on patch, a Malachiasz Plushie, and the dust jacket set. I really got this because I hoped the dust jackets would be amazing and they are. The other items are okay but I do plan to sell the plushie as I’m not a fan of any of the FaeCrate plushies.

FaeCrate: Wings of Shadow Mini Hangover Recovery Kit

FaeCrate is a young adult book subscription box that also does special edition boxes that they call Hangover Recovery kits. These are suppose to help you get over the book hangover after you have finished the book the box is focused on. A Mini Kit is a little bit smaller and has fewer items but is still a good box. I’ve been slowly reading the Crown of Feathers series and wanted to see what FaeCrate would do for the series.

The book is of course Wings of Shadow by Nicki Pau Preto the third and final book in the Crown of Feathers series which came with a signed bookplate and a letter from the author. Otherwise this is a standard edition of this book which I have more than one copy of so I probably won’t keep this copy. I bought this box for the items.

The items included in this box where dust jacket set, a wooden pin, a Phoenix Shawl, and an Avalkyra plushie. All FaeCrate Hangover Kits come with plushies which I personally don’t like and will sell sometime in the future. However, I always hope that I will love the other items in the box. This box was fairly disappointing. The art on the Dust Jackets are very nice but I don’t like the fact that the titles are not on the dust jackets and the pin is fairly standard. The shawl is nice and I could see myself using it in the future.

December 2020 FaeCrate

Fae Crate is a primarily young adult fantasy subscription box with several box options each month. I’ve purchased from this box multiple times and I find the monthly boxes very hit or miss. However, their special edition boxes are generally very good and they sometimes have very beautiful exclusive book editions. Like most book boxes the items are a mix of useful and decorative items. Though I’ve found that Fae Crate often has more art and paper items then other boxes.

December’s theme was Hunted. The bookish items included were a house of night iron on patch, A Darker Shade of Magic enamel phone grip/pop socket, a Star Daughter inspired note pad, a Raybearer inspired candle, a Vortex Visions beanie, and the monthly polaroid.

The book included this month was A Deal with the Elf King by Elise Kova. In this world the Elves take a woman from Luella’s village to be their queen. She escaped this fate when she was younger but now the king has come to take her away. This edition has an exclusive design with foiling on the hardback, silver sprayed edges, and comes with a signed book plate. Also Fae Crate includes an ebook download of another book with each box. This months is Darkwind by R. Dugan.

FaeCrate: To Sleep in a Sea of Stars Mini Hangover Recovery Kit

FaeCrate is a young adult book subscription box that also does special edition boxes that they call Hangover Recovery kits. These are suppose to help you get over the book hangover after you have finished the book the box is focused on. Eragon and the Inheritance Cycle was one of my favorite series growing up and I knew I would pick up Christopher Paolini’s next book.

To Sleep in a Sea of Stars is an adult Science Fiction novel focusing on Kira, a young woman who ends up being involved in first contact with an alien species. That’s all I need to know that I wanted to read this book and that I would be interested in any book boxes for it.

The items included in this box where a signed copy of To Sleep in a Sea of Stars, an enamel bookmark, a led lamp, and a set of art dust jackets for Eragon and the Inheritance Cycle. Though a smaller box I loved all the item in it which is rare for me and I think I prefer smaller boxes

FaeCrate Iron Fae 10th Anniversay Hangover Kit

IMG_0468When Fae Crate announced that they where doing a 10th Anniversay Hangover Kit for The Iron King by Julie Kagawa I order it because I had wanted to get into the series and I enjoy the excitement around book boxes.IMG_0453

This kit included a bath bomb, an envelope clutch, character cards, an arrow necklace, a key chain, and an enamel pin. The lager items were the Ash plushie, the Iron Fae book tin, and the blanket. I liked everything but I’ve never been a huge fan of the plushies so I might sell that in the future.

This Hangover kit also included the 10th Anniversary paperback edition of The Iron King which came with a signed book plate and a annotated chapter by Julie Kagawa.

These hangover kits are fun to get but designed with fans of the series in mind. Though they would also be good for those just getting into the series.

Fae Crate Nameless Hangover Kit

IMG_0373For different books FaeCrate do Hangover Recovery kits for the book hangover you will have after finishing the book. They did a Mini Kit for the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Mass.

IMG_0375This kit did not come with a book just bookish items so it is perfect for those who love the series and want merch connected to the books and series as a whole. The bookish items included were a Aelin plushie (which FaeCrate include a plushie with every hangover kit), an Amulet of Orynthin Necklace which is long enough for an adult, and a Wyvern enamel pin. I chose to buy the up graded kit which included a set of Dust Jackets for the US Hardback editions of the Throne of Glass books.

I liked this box but I think that some of their other Hangover kits have been much better. Originally, I didn’t love the Dust Jackets but they’ve grown on me and I love the spines. I bought the hangover kit for the dust jackets so the other items didn’t matter to me. I do think that I will sell the plushie in the future.

March 2020 Fae Crate

I like to try out different book boxes both from companies that I’ve bought from before and new companies every so often to see how book boxes are changing. Fae Crate is a primarily young adult fantasy subscription box with several box options each month. Sadly, most of the monthly boxes have been let down for me but this years March box which is also their anniversary box is much better. There is still a few items that I won’t get much use out of but it think the company is slowly getting higher quality items.IMG_0329

Much like other boxes they include one new hard back book and bookish items. The bookish items included were a necklace inspired by The Maiden Ship which is this months book, an ACOTAR enamel pin, a skyward patch tote bag to put iron on patches on. They also included a Crown of Feathers patch to use on the bag, a Spin the Dawn blanket, and their monthly art and Polaroids. I like most of the items but I’m not a iron on patch person so I probably won’t use the patch on the bag.

Also Fae Crate always includes a e book code which can make the cost better if one isn’t a fan of most of the items. This months e book is  Iridescent Fury by Zachary James. This months book is The Maiden Ship by Micheline Ryckman and it comes with a signed book plate. For this edition of the book the hard back is embossed and comes with a reversible dust jacket with exclusive art. The story follows Dain Alloway who has been sailing on the ship The Maiden for most of his life but this all changes when he wakes one night to find a mysterious woman in his cabin.

FaeCrate Thorns and All Hangover Recovery Kit

IMG_1202For different books FaeCrate do Hangover Recovery kits for the book hangover you will have after finishing the book. They never had a chance to do one for The Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J Mass so in conjunction with the anniversary edition of the first book they did a mini recover kit call Thorns and All.IMG_1193

This kit did not come with a book just bookish items so it is perfect for those who love the series and want merch connected to the books and series as a whole. The bookish items included were a Rhysand plushie which is a staple for FaeCrate Hangover kits. I personally don’t care for the plushies so I will probably end up selling it at some point. A Being of light and fire print, a collectible coin, a starfall necklace was also included. Sadly, the necklace feels cheep and is very short. I needed to add two different two inch extenders to the necklace to wear it. Also included where a patch set, a book mark set, a foil poster, and a makeup brush set and roll. The makeup brushes are not bad but the roll case smells very strong plastic.

Some of the biggest items where the Acrylic bookends and the shawl which are the items that I will get the most use out of. All in all I liked this box but it is for those who are fans of the series as if your not that big of a fan most of these items won’t appeal to you. Though I wish less cheep and paper item had be included.

November 2019 Fae Crate

Fae Crate is a young adult book subscription box that focuses on fantasy and science fiction. Unlike some book boxes Fae Crate has three options to choose from: a shirt only box (Solitary Crate), a book and goodies box (Unseelie Crate), and a box that includes the shirt, book, and all the bookish goodies (Seelie Crate). For my box I choose the Unseelie Crate without the shirt.IMG_1119

The bookish goodies included are a pen inspired by My Lady Jane, a hanging organizer, a magnetic bookmark, a note pad inspired by the Raven Cycle, a Lifelike Polaroid, and the monthly collectible coin. This box also included a pocket edition of Peter Pan which makes the box worth a little bit more. Considering how amazing Fae Crate’s specialty boxes are the monthly boxes that I have gotten feel a little cheep given the price.

The book is The Guinevere Deception by Kiersten White which is a King Arthur retelling. Fae Crate also included a exclusive cover, a letter from the author and a sign book plate. In this book Guinevere has come to Camelot to marry and protect Arthur but how can she trust herself when everything she is, is a lie?IMG_1122

Fae Crate does seem to include books that are not the most hyped so if your trying to find new books people might not be talking about this might be the box for you. Also Fae Crate does include a eBook download in each months box which adds more value when the items might not be the best. This months eBook was Hook and Crown by Nicole Knapp.

For those interested Fae Crate does special book “hangover” recovery boxes for some popular and highly anticipated books throughout the year as well as monthly boxes.

Fae Crate Darkdawn Box

IMG_0802As I’ve mentioned before I bought several book boxes in celebration of the release of DarkDawn by Jay Kristoff. The Fae Crate edition is the last of the book boxes I received though I did also buy a box from a bookish candle company that I will discuss in another post. The amazing thing about all of these boxes is that there were very few duplicate items and every box had different amazing art and artist behind it.IMG_0807

As with all of these boxes there was a copy of DarkDawn and the deleted scene Three. The Fae Crate edition is signed and came with special dust jacket set for all the books in the series.

Of the bookish items all Fae Crate special edition boxes come with a plushie this time of Mia. Other items included were an enamel pin featuring Tric, a character print, a metal cuff bracelet with the quote “I am the war you cannot win”, and a Spiderkiller drink tumbler. Also there was a character card set, a USB in the shape of the gravestone dagger, a pouch, collectible coin and a room spray. The most unique item was a sun shade for a car that had character art on it.

I don’t always love Fae Crate’s monthly boxes but their Hangover Crates and specialty boxes are incredibly well done with high quality items and amazing art.
